Shameless (this man's charm is) // Groove Armada ft. Bryan Ferry

To be released in March, most likely on Southern Fried Records, Crookers and... a Ton of Friends. Literally, a whole bunch of seriously great artists: Soulwax, Kelis, Róisín Murphy, Miike Snow, Drop The Lime, Major Lazer, Yelle... the list goes on. Excited? Well, you should be!

There are three video clips so far, which you can check below, and you can get some freebies here.

Gira reactivates Swans (at long last)

Hello There,
I have decided to focus my energy on Swans once again. I'm reactivating that project. A new album is in the works, and touring will follow in fall of 2010. In order to help raise funds / help defray the considerable costs of recording and promoting the new album, I have made a special CD/DVD limited edition handmade package called "I Am Not Insane" available exclusively at the YGR website. You can read about the CD/DVD, and my decision to reactivate Swans at this link:

Thanks Very Much, and God Bless You,

Shakin' the blues with 80s nostalgia // Cavaliers of Fun

Nothing like some feel good neon outlined synth pop to get rid of the blues, especially if it features Close encounters of the 3rd kind, a very young Jeff Bridges on Carpenter's Starman and Klaus Dinger on a makeshift drum machine. How is that for class? Coincidently, I spent the day listening to Miami Horror's Sometimes (the FF remix) and if you happen to be on the same wavelength, check this out. Now! Lastly, this gentleman was kind enough to provide a link to two of his tracks and a remix he did for Dragonette; plus confirmation of an upcoming EP. Awesome.

Full album preview for Contra // Vampire Weekend

Hello. It is I, your friendly reckless blogger, posting a preview of Contra without actually having listened to it and despite finding Vampire Weekend slightly... humm... annoying. Also, it buffs my sitemeter stats, specially if the word gay is used for no reason. For months on end the #1 Google search string for incoming traffic was "Vampire Weekend Gay" after a post I did. It was just me goofing around with a friend, but apparently everyone is gay for Ezra Koenig. Lastly, I know you all like them, so there, it is a win-win...win-win situation... except for the part of Ezra not being gay, which sucks for some people, but hey... there is always Morrissey!

Radiohead's darkest Reckonings ft Telepathe & Salem // #rmxmonday

Pushing the envelope of dark beats and oppressing synth lines to the point of total obliteration, Salem & Telepathe deliver. Gloriously. Links, music files and even mp3 players, all shamelessly stolen expertly copied pasted from The Fader website here.

(I'm quite possibly facing some jail time here for your musical contentedness, Y'alls! If I'm arrested, please come visit. And bring cupcakes.)

And now for the weather // Best of 2009

The main factor (read: most important although not the only one) playing into the list below is simple: Consistency throughout the entire album. In other words, one or two good tracks are NOT enough, regardless of how incredibly superb they are or how much the band have "evolved". That being said, I'm terribly sorry Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear, but this actually means you. And the likes of Passion Pit . Possibly the other Lady with the ginourmous nose.

Selected tracks from the list below are available here. (at least until I blip another track, in which case you'll have to go to my blip profile, look for the Memory Tapes track and start listening from that point onwards)

Memory Tapes - Seek Magic (Acéphale)
Fever Ray - Fever Ray (Rabid Records)
Salem - Water EP (Merok Records)
Jookabox - Dead Zone Boys (Asthmatic Kitty)
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (V2 Records)
Junior Boys - Begone Dull Care (Domino)
The XX - xx (Young Turks)
Delorean - Ayrton Senna EP (Fool House)
YACHT - See Mystery Lights (DFA)
Cass McCombs - Catacombs (Domino)
Double Dagger - More (Thrill Jockey)
Polvo - In Prism (Merge Records)

Honorable Mentions: Morrissey, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Andrew Bird, DJ Hell.

People to watch out for in 2010: Salem, Salem, Salem, Salem!!! With three amazing EPs in 2009 alone, one of which garnered the third spot in the list above, needless to say that I expect something truly amazing coming in the form of a full length release.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of those that stop by. I love all of you, your maladjusted ways and your unborn offspring. Now start clicking random links, buying music and giving hugs to complete strangers on the street.

Because that's how magic happens: Music & Love.
